Oh, what fun it is to celebrate Christmas in King City.
During the holiday season, the streets light up in this charming town. Whether it’s the Santa Claus parade, one of their holiday or charity events, King City is a festive destination with plenty to offer residents and guests.
Here are a few examples of what’s going on this year.
The King Heritage & Cultural Centre brings back its annual Trees of Giving exhibition. Community members can display their beautifully decorated tree and visitors will vote on the year’s winner. The proceeds raised will go towards helping children attend summer camp in the new year. This event free to attend and is open from 10am - 4pm, Tuesday - Sunday until December 29th.
The King Heritage & Cultural Centre is also hosting a Children’s theatre workshop, called, Once Upon a Stage: Winter Wonderland. For this years’ "Winter Wonderland” theme, kids step into a magical world of snowy adventures where they’ll create their own characters, learn fundamental theatre skills, and bring snowy scenes to life on stage. Registration is open for kids aged 6 to 10.
Another initiative during this season is Christmas in King, a volunteer-based gifting program for those who are less fortunate.
You can also try out some of King’s serene trails. Cold Creek Conservation in Nobleton or King City Trail are great spots to explore, just make sure to dress for the weather!
There are a few quaint cafes for you to sip on hot chocolate while enjoying the snowfall. The Roost Cafe is a cozy local drink and lunch spot set in a heritage home with a backyard views overlooking a local ravine.
